PyCon JP 2019: 1日目のキーノートスピーカー決定のお知らせ/ Announcement of Keynote Speaker on Day 1

PyCon JP 2019はトークの応募期間が始まっています。（応募はこちら(papercall.io)から。6/2まで）

さて、このたび1日目のキーノートスピーカーが決定しましたので発表します。

PyCon JP 2019 1日目のキーノートスピーカーは、Cory Althoff氏に決定しました！

Cory Althoff氏は『独学プログラマー Python言語の基本から仕事のやり方まで』の著者です。
『独学プログラマー』は国内で初学者から上級者にまで読まれています（46,000部発行だそうです）。
この本は日本に「独学の新時代」をもたらした本と言えるでしょう。
このことからCory氏は本年のテーマ「Python New Era」にふさわしく、キーノートスピーカーとして招待することになりました。
プログラマーと独学は切っても切れない関係ですので、参加者にとっても素晴らしい機会になると考えています。

なお、2日目のキーノートスピーカーは近いうちに発表予定です。

I'm excited to announce our day 1 keynote speaker: Cory Althoff!

Cory Althoff is the author of "The Self-Taught Programmer: The Definitive Guide to Programming Professionally".
"The Self-Taught Programmer" is read by beginners and masters in Japan (46,000 copies published!).
The book seems to have brought a New Era of self-taught in Japan.
So we have decided he is a perfect fit for our theme this year, "Python New Era", and invited him as a keynote speaker to PyCon JP 2019.
It would be a great opportunity for participants because programmers are inseparable from self-taught.

We will announce our day 2 keynote speaker shortly.

Here is Mr. Cory's profile.


Cory Althoff


Cory Althoff first discovered Python when he was teaching himself to program after he graduated from college. After learning Python, he was hired at eBay as a software engineer. Cory wrote a book called "The Self-Taught Programmer" about his experience going from a beginner to a professional programmer. His book teaches you how to program in Python, as well as other important skills you need to learn to program professionally. "The Self-Taught Programmer" has been featured in publications like Forbes and translated into eight languages. Book Authority and Tech Digest both named it one of the best software books of all time. His Facebook group Self-Taught Programmers has 45,000 members. Cory is currently working on finishing his second book, as well as running his training program Five-Week Coder, where he helps his students learn to program in Python.

コーリー・アルソフは大学卒業後、プログラミングを独学する中で、Pythonを初めて知った。
Pythonを独学した後、彼はeBayにソフトウェアエンジニアとして就職した。
初心者からプロのプログラマーになった経験について、コーリーは"The Self-Taught Programmer"（邦訳『独学プログラマー』）という本を書いた。
彼の本では、Pythonでのプログラミングも、プロのプログラマーとして身につける必要のある他の重要なスキルも学ぶことができる。
"The Self-Taught Programmer"はForbesなどの出版物で特集され、8ヶ国語に翻訳された。
Book AuthorityとTech Digestは共に、彼の本を史上最良のソフトウェアの本の一冊に選んだ。
彼のFacebookグループ Self-Taught Programmers には45000名のメンバーがいる。
コーリーは現在、2冊めの本を書き上げることと、Five-Week Coderというトレーニングプログラムを運営することに取り組んでいる。
Five-Week Coderでは彼の生徒たちがPythonでプログラミングを学ぶのを手助けしている。
