PyCon JP 2026 Day 0: Early Check-in and a Collaboration Event with “Sugoi Hiroshima with Python”

Hello! I’m Shion from the PyCon JP 2026 Attendee Management Team.

PyCon JP 2026 is just around the corner!

On Thursday, August 20, the day before the conference begins, we will hold Day 0 Early Check-in for PyCon JP 2026 attendees.

We will also open a drop-in community space in collaboration with the Hiroshima-based Python community “Sugoi Hiroshima with Python.”

Whether you are arriving in Hiroshima before the conference or already live in Hiroshima or the surrounding area, we would love to see you there!

Check in early on Day 0

A large number of attendees arrive at the registration desk on the morning of the first conference day.

At last year’s PyCon JP, around 300 attendees checked in during the first hour after the doors opened.

By completing your check-in on Day 0, you can avoid the registration queue on the morning of Day 1 and start enjoying the conference at a more relaxed pace.

Already arriving in Hiroshima the day before the conference? Live nearby and able to stop by after work? Please take advantage of our Early Check-in!

• Location: Registration area in front of the Ran and Cosmos rooms, Basement Level 2, International Conference Center Hiroshima

Collaboration event with “Sugoi Hiroshima with Python”

Alongside Early Check-in, we will host a drop-in community space in collaboration with the Hiroshima Python community “Sugoi Hiroshima with Python.”

Everyone is welcome, whether or not you are attending PyCon JP 2026. No advance registration is required, and you are free to come and go during the event.

You can stop by after completing Early Check-in, attend only the community event, or join us briefly after work.

Come and chat about Python, meet members of the local Hiroshima community, and connect with other participants in a relaxed setting.

Enjoy a local treat while chatting about Python and connecting with members of the Hiroshima community and other participants. We hope it will help you get excited for PyCon JP 2026, starting the following day.

Preparations for the conference will also be underway at the venue, so you might catch a glimpse of a slightly different, behind-the-scenes atmosphere of PyCon JP on the day before the conference.

こんにちは！PyCon JP 2026 参加者管理チームのShionです。

PyCon JP 2026の開催まで、いよいよあと少しとなりました！

今年のPyCon JP 2026では、カンファレンス前日の 8月20日(木)に「Day 0」として前日受付を実施します！

さらに、広島のPythonコミュニティ「すごい広島 with Python」とのコラボレーションによる交流スペースもオープンします！

前日から広島に滞在している方はもちろん、広島や近隣地域にお住まいの方も、ぜひお立ち寄りください！

Day 0で、一足早く受付を済ませませんか？

カンファレンス初日の朝は、多くの参加者が受付に集まり、混雑することが予想されます。
昨年のPyCon JPでは、開場から最初の1時間だけで約300名の参加者が受付に来場しました。

Day 0で受付を済ませておけば、1日目の朝は受付の列を気にせず、余裕を持ってカンファレンスを楽しめます。

「前日にはもう広島にいるよ！」という方はもちろん、「広島に住んでいるので、仕事帰りに寄れそう！」という方も、ぜひ前日受付をご利用ください！

「すごい広島 with Python」とのコラボ交流イベント

前日受付と並行して、広島のPythonコミュニティ「すごい広島 with Python」とのコラボ交流スペースをオープンします。

この交流スペースは、PyCon JP 2026への参加・不参加にかかわらず、どなたでも参加できます。出入り自由です！前日受付を済ませたあとに立ち寄るのはもちろん、交流スペースだけの参加や、仕事帰りの短時間の参加も歓迎します。

Pythonについて話したり、広島のコミュニティや参加者同士で交流したりしながら、気軽にお過ごしください。

「すごい広島 with Python」とのコラボ交流スペースでは、広島といえば思い浮かぶ、あのおやつも用意しています！
おやつを楽しみながらPythonの話をしたり、広島のコミュニティや参加者同士で交流したりして、翌日から始まるPyCon JP 2026に向けて気分を高めていただければと思います。

また、会場では翌日からのカンファレンスに向けた準備も進んでいます。いつもとは少し違う、開催前日のPyCon JPの雰囲気も感じられるかもしれません。

「Open Source Conference 2026 Kyoto」に出展してきました！

2026年8月1日に京都リサーチパークで開催された「Open Source Conference 2026 Kyoto（OSC 2026 Kyoto）」に、PyCon JP Associationとしてブース出展してきました！今回はそのイベントレポートをお届けします。

真夏の京都と、ブースの賑わい

ここ数年、毎年夏は京都に来ている気がします（ほぼプライベートですが…笑）。今年の京都も例年通りとても暑かったですね！

そんな猛暑にもかかわらず、当日はたくさんの方が会場に足を運んでくださり、私たちのPyCon JP Associationブースも盛り上がっておりました。お立ち寄りいただいた皆さま、本当にありがとうございました！

今回の展示は、先日出展した「OSC 2026 Shimane」をベースに、Pythonのバージョンアンケートやステッカー配布、書籍紹介などを行いました。中でも、いよいよ今月に迫った「PyCon JP 2026」のPRを中心に展開しました。

使用しているPythonのバージョンは？

当日は実にさまざまな背景を持つ方々と交流することができました！

• 最新バージョンのPythonをガンガン使いこなしている方
• 今も現役でPython 2系を運用されている方
• 大学のゼミや授業でデータ分析にPythonを活用している学生さん
• 「これからPythonを始めてみたい！」と学習の入り口を探している方

私自身もまだまだPythonの勉強中（入り口を探している最中）なのですが、多様なユーザーの生の声を聞くことができ、非常に刺激的な一日となりました。

セミナーへの登壇

一般社団法人 PyCon JP Associationからtakanoryさんが「エラーはともだち こわくないよ」というタイトルで登壇されましたので、こちらも紹介いたします。

Pythonのエラーとは何かという基本的な解説から、実際に出力されるエラーの読み解き方などのお話がありました。間違いのあるサンプルコードからどのようなエラーが出力されるかを当てるクイズ形式の出題もあり、とてもためになる内容でした。

PyCon JP 2026は8月21日〜22日（23日は開発スプリント）に広島国際会議場で開催されます！チケットも絶賛発売中ですので、ぜひチェックしてみてください。

ちなみに、「OSC 2026 Kyoto」当日は広島から新幹線で京都入りしました。移動時間は２時間もかからず、思った以上に近かったです！

PyCon JP 2026を一緒につくりませんか？ 当日スポットボランティアを募集します！

PyCon JP 2026の開催が近づいてきました！

今年のPyCon JP 2026では、カンファレンス当日の運営を少しだけお手伝いいただく 「当日スポットボランティア」を募集します。

• スタッフとしてずっと活動するのは難しいけれど、ちょっとだけ運営にも関わってみたい
• いつもとは少し違う形でPyConに参加してみたい
• Pythonコミュニティの人たちともっと交流してみたい

そんな方に、ぜひ参加していただきたい企画です。

「少しだけ」で参加できます

当日スポットボランティアは、短時間・1つの担当から参加できます。 たとえば、こんな関わり方をイメージしています。

• 30分/45分だけ好きなトークを1つ選んで、そのセッションのMCをする
• 1時間だけ午前中だけ受付をして、来場したみなさんをお迎えする
• お昼の時間だけランチ配布を手伝う

担当の時間以外は、いつもどおり参加者としてトークを聴いたり、ブースを回ったりして楽しんでいただけます。

ROLES

当日お願いする役割

当日お願いする予定の役割には、たとえばこんなものがあります。

• 受付 来場したみなさんをお迎えして、名札をお渡しします
• トークMC セッションの前後の司会（台本あり）、時間の合図をお手伝いします
• Tシャツの配布 サイズを確認しながらお渡しします
• ランチ配布 お昼の時間にお弁当をお配りします

ボランティアがはじめてでも大丈夫です

それぞれの担当にはPyCon JP 2026の主催メンバーも入り、当日、簡単な説明をしてからスタートします。 トークMCも、話す内容の流れをこちらでご用意します。 「ボランティア経験がないけれど大丈夫かな？」という方にも参加していただける形を予定しています。

実は、参加者がカンファレンス当日の運営をお手伝いするスタイルは、 海外のPythonカンファレンスでも広く行われています。

PyCon JP 2026 Travel Grant Selection Results

We are pleased to announce the selection results for the PyCon JP 2026 Travel Grant program.

At the beginning of the application period, we planned to provide support to 30 domestic participants and 10 international participants.

However, our keynote speaker, Carol Willing, generously offered to decline the travel support allocated to her and asked that the funds instead be used to support PyCon JP participants.

Thanks to her kindness, we were able to expand the program and ultimately select the following number of recipients:

• Domestic participants: 40
• International participants: 11

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Carol for her generous support.

Selection Process

Based on the information provided in the applications, we made our selections by considering the following factors:

• Participants traveling from locations far from Hiroshima, the host city
• Young participants attending with a U25 or Student ticket
• First-time PyCon JP attendees
• Talk session speakers

Those who have contributed to open-source projects or the Python community

PyCon JP 2026 遠方支援（Travel Grant）採択結果のお知らせ

 PyCon JP 2026 遠方支援（Travel Grant）の採択結果をお知らせします。

募集開始時点では、国内30名、海外10名への支援を予定していました。

しかし、キーノートスピーカーのCarol Willingさんより、ご自身の旅費支援を辞退し、その分をPyCon JP参加者の支援に活用してほしいとの大変ありがたいお申し出をいただきました。

このご厚意により、遠方支援の対象を拡大し、最終的に以下の方々を採択しました。

• 国内：40名
• 海外：11名

Carolさんの温かいご支援に、心より感謝申し上げます。

選考について

応募内容をもとに、以下の点を総合的に考慮して選考を行いました。

• 開催地である広島からみて遠方から参加する方

PyCon JP 2026 Invited Talk: PyLadies Seoul × PyLadies Tokyo

Invited Talk: Growing Communities with PyLadies from Around the World

Starting a community is the easy part. Keeping it alive is something else. How do you find the people who will build it with you? What keeps the events happening when everyone gets busy? And how do you create a space that makes a first-time visitor want to come back?

The invited talk at PyCon JP 2026 brings together members of PyLadies, who have spent years growing Python communities in different parts of the world. Soojin Yoon (Luna) of PyLadies Seoul and Maaya Ishida of PyLadies Tokyo will share what they have learned on the ground: how to find fellow organizers, what it takes to keep a community running over time, and how to build a space where everyone feels safe to take part.

Joining them as a special guest is Carol Willing, co-organizer of PyLadies San Diego and a keynote speaker at PyCon JP 2026. Seoul, Tokyo, and San Diego: PyLadies organizers from three very different contexts, together in one session.

What they will talk about is not specific to PyLadies. These are the questions every community runs into. If you already organize something, if you have been thinking about starting, if you support organizers from behind the scenes, or if you simply care about making events welcoming, these 45 minutes will be worth your time.

Meet the Speakers

Soojin Yoon (Luna)

Luna is a Python and Django backend engineer with more than five years of experience. Having started her programming journey at 42 Seoul, a software engineering program in Korea, she now works at SocraAI (formerly Riiid), where she develops backend systems for an AI-driven English learning platform.

Deeply committed to both local and global developer communities, she serves as an organizer for PyLadies Seoul, Women in Cloud, and DjangoKR. Within the open-source ecosystem, she is an Individual Member of the Django Software Foundation (DSF), an active participant in DjangoNauts Space, and a contributor to the Django project.

Luna actively shares her knowledge and technical insights on stages at home and abroad. She has spoken at PyCon KR (2023, 2026), PyCon APAC Tokyo (2023, lightning talk), and PyCon US (2024, lightning talk), and served as a workshop facilitator for AWS Community Day (2025).

Maaya Ishida

As an ops engineer, she has worked on CI/CD and automated documentation publishing, on making workflow and monitoring processes visible, and on improving the efficiency of batch systems. She is currently a presales engineer at Microsoft Japan.

Along the way she attended PyLadies Tokyo meetup #1, which was her first encounter with Python. Today she serves as a director of the PyCon JP Association and as staff for PyLadies Tokyo, helping to run the Python community.

In recognition of her contributions to the Python community, she was selected as one of the inaugural recipients of the Outstanding PyLady Award in 2024.

Her motto: life is improv.
