Hi, this is ikeda from the PyCon JP 2026 organizing team.

Time flies, PyCon JP 2026 in Hiroshima on 8/21 (Fri) and 8/22 (Sat) is just about 4 months away.

Today, we are opening the PyCon JP 2026 Call for Proposals!

What We Are Looking For

  • Talks (30 min): approximately 40-50 slots planned

Please see the CfP page for details: https://pretalx.com/pyconjp2026/cfp

Proposals are accepted in both Japanese and English.

Schedule

  • Submission Start: April 29, 2026 (Wed)

  • Submission Deadline: May 31, 2026 (Sun) (Anywhere on Earth)

  • Notification of Acceptance: Planned for early July

Submissions or changes after the deadline will not be reviewed. Please submit with time to spare.

What We Value This Year

At PyCon JP 2026, we value proposals that convey why you are the right person to give this talk, in this place.

In an era where anyone can share information through blog posts or videos, we believe the value of presenting at a conference lies in speakers and attendees coming together in the same space — creating dialogue and sparking new connections.

In your proposal, please tell us:

  • How you have been involved with this topic

  • What you have learned or discovered through your own experience

  • What questions or discussions you would like to have with attendees

You are welcome to use AI tools when preparing your proposal. What matters most is that your own experience and perspective come through clearly.

Review Criteria

This year, proposals will be reviewed based on five criteria:

  1. Firsthand experience: Is the content based on the speaker's own concrete experience?

  2. Originality: Does it offer perspectives or insights beyond existing information?

  3. Clarity: Are the content and goals communicated clearly?

  4. Interactivity: Does it show consideration for discussion and engagement with attendees?

  5. Relevance: Is the content valuable to the Python community?

We welcome proposals at all experience levels, from introductory to advanced. First-time speakers are encouraged to apply.

Additional Notes

  • Each person may submit up to 2 proposals

  • Travel Grant (support for travel and accommodation expenses) is planned for speakers traveling from afar. Please check the box when submitting your proposal

  • During the review process, submission content may be sent to LLM services for translation and review assistance. We ask for your consent when submitting

We look forward to hearing your experience and perspective at PyCon JP 2026!
