Travel Grant for PyCon JP 2024

Travel Grant Overview

The PyCon JP Association is pleased to offer financial aid to help defray the costs of travel and accommodation for participants who live far from the conference venue. This program is primarily intended for those who reside outside of the Tokyo metropolitan area or who would otherwise face significant financial hardship in attending the conference.

Please note: The travel grant does not cover conference registration fees. You will need to pay the registration fees yourself.

Eligibility

To be eligible for financial aid, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must reside a significant distance from the conference venue, resulting in substantial travel and accommodation expenses.
  • You must demonstrate financial need.

Funding Amount

The amount of financial aid awarded will vary depending on your individual circumstances. However, as a general guideline, we anticipate providing:

  • Domestic Participants: Up to 50,000 yen to cover the full cost of travel and accommodation.
  • International Participants: Up to 200,000 yen to cover the full cost of travel and accommodation.

Please note that any expenses exceeding the respective limits will be the responsibility of the participant.

Number of Recipients

We anticipate awarding financial aid to a limited number of participants (approximately 5 domestic and 10 international recipients). In the event of a high volume of applications, we will prioritize requests from students and those residing further from the venue. We may also adjust the number of recipients based on available funds and other considerations.
