Hello! I'm in charge of sponsorships for PyCon JP 2024.

We are releasing the sponsorship details for PyCon JP 2024. The recruitment for sponsorships is scheduled to begin next week, and we will notify you through our blog. PyCon JP 2024 is planned to be held at the TOC Ariake Convention Hall.

Recruitment Schedule

1st Round Recruitment: May 7, 2024 (Tue) - May 17, 2024 (Fri) 23:59 JST ※ Sponsorships will be determined by lottery after the 1st round recruitment period ends.

(Not on a first-come, first-served basis.)

2nd Round Recruitment: May 18, 2024 (Sat) - One month before the event ※Sponsorships in the 2nd round will be determined on a first-come, first-served basis.

As previously mentioned, sponsorships will generally be evaluated and decided on a first-come, first-served basis. Additionally, for sponsors who apply by May 17th (Fri) 23:59 JST, their applications will be considered in the order received. In case of duplicates, a lottery will be conducted.

Please note that once sponsorships are confirmed, they cannot be cancelled. We kindly ask companies to consider sponsorship based on the provided information. We eagerly await your enthusiastic applications!

Revealing the PyCon APAC 2023 logo!

Hello! I am a member of the PyCon APAC 2023 design team.

We’re excited to reveal this year's conference logo.

Our vision for PyCon APAC 2023 is “Connect Asia and the world through Python”.

We are now accepting applications for sponsorship packages for PyCon APAC 2023. 

Sponsorship packages are available in the Call for Sponsorships article, and we're looking for sponsors who are interested in sponsoring PyCon APAC 2023.

We will be holding an information session on June 5th at 6:00 p.m.JST to discuss sponsorship packages.

If the number of applications for a given sponsorship level exceeds the limit of sponsors for that

level, the sponsor will be decided by lottery during the first application period, not on a first-come,

Second application period: June 15th, 2023 (Thursday) 00:00 AoE (June 15th 21:00 JST) - 1 month before the event

Sponsors will be determined on a first-come, first-served basis during this period.

2022年11月17日の発表でもありましたように、2023年の座長が決定し開催に向けて動き始めます。

開催日、詳細スケジュールは決まっていませんが、2023年10月開催を予定しております。これから開催日や形態を決め、チームを立ち上げて動きます。

私は、Pythonを学ぶことやPyCon, PyLadies, Pythonをテーマにしたイベントを通して多くの方に出会えることができました。スタッフとしてお手伝いいただける方もぜひ、この機会をきっかけに多くの方と知り合い、たくさんのつながりを持っていただきたいと思います。

スタッフに興味はある。でもできるか不安という方へ

ちょっとでも興味があったら思い切って飛び込んでみてください。

それでも不安な方は、スタッフミーティングの「お試し参加・にぎやかし」もありますので、様子を見てから申し込むのも大歓迎です。（詳細は下記に記載）

スタッフの活動は、できる範囲で取り組んでいただければ大丈夫です。
「カンファレンス当日までは手伝えないけれど、3ヶ月前までなら手伝える」というような関わり方も大歓迎です。

PyCon JPのスタッフになる上で、Pythonが書ける必要は全くありません。
今いるスタッフも全員が仕事でPythonを書いているわけではありません。
皆さんの得意な分野でお力を貸していただけるととても嬉しいです。中には、Python以外の言語を書くエンジニアもいますし、また、エンジニアではないスタッフもたくさんいました。

Call for Lightning Talks of PyCon JP 2022 is now open!

The presentation time is 5 minutes.

Call for PyCon JP 2022 sprint participants and sprint leaders is now open!

This year's sprint will be held on Sunday, October 16 at TOC Ariake Convention Hall (20F) in Koto-ku, Tokyo.

Anyone who registers on the connpass event page for the sprint can attend for free! You do not need a ticket for PyCon JP 2022 to participate in a sprint.

What is a sprint?

Most open source software development is done through online communication, usually on the web. Most of the time this is fine, but sometimes getting together in person to collaborate offline can be effective in moving development forward in a big way.

A method called sprints or hackathons (outside of the Python community, such meetups are often referred to as hackathons) was created to allow developers interested in this particular project to get together offline and make quick progress in a short amount of time. (Outside of the Python community, such meetups are often called hackathons).

And since a conference where developers come together is the perfect place to realize these sprints, sprints are often held as part of the conference.

PyCon JP 2022 will provide the necessary environment for sprints (Wi-Fi, power, tables, chairs, and coffee). Sprint participants are encouraged to bring their computers, skills, and passion for development to the event!

This sprint will also be a great opportunity for the Python community to get involved.

We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity for offline community activities!

What is a Sprint Leader?

A sprint leader is a person who decides on a specific open project to be handled within a sprint and handles guiding and consulting on its development, within a time frame.

A leader does not have to be a maintainer of the project being developed. Leaders are asked to choose a specific project that they would like to develop and simply set the goals they would like to achieve within the sprint. If other sprint participants would like to participate in a project they have chosen, sprint leaders are expected to first introduce their chosen project to the participants and guide them through the development process, and then assist them as needed during the development process.

Since this Sprint Leader structure is completely informal, participants are free to choose any project they wish to actually develop.

When applying for community activities, please have the community representative register as a leader and describe the name of the community and what you will be working on in the CONNSPASS survey.

Announcement about the keynote speaker for PyCon JP 2022

We're excited to announce the keynote speakers for PyCon JP 2022!

The following people have been confirmed as keynote speakers for PyCon JP 2022!

Simultaneous Japanese-English audio interpretation will be available on both days (on-site participants only).

Let me briefly introduce their profiles.

Mark Shannon

Mark Shannon

I started using Python in 2005 and have been a contributor to CPython since 2010.

After a long career developing static analysis tools, I have been working on Python acceleration for the last few years.

My academic and commercial research focuses on Python compilers, virtual machines, and static analysis. My PhD was on building virtual machines for dynamic languages, and I am the author of various PEPs, including 412, 590, 626, and 659.

I am currently working as the technical lead of the Microsoft-funded "Faster CPython" team.

Mark Shannon has been deeply involved with virtual machines and compilers for dynamic programming languages like Python since his student days.

For Python 3.11, he is leading the Farster CPython: CPython Acceleration Project.

This will be an interesting place to learn how he has faced the challenge of improving Python's performance.

Hiromu Nishiuchi

Hiromu Nishiuchi

After working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Communication at the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Medicine, Deputy Director of the University Hospital Medical Information Network Research Center, and a visiting researcher at Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Research Center, he founded Data Vehicle, Inc. in November 2014.

He is engaged in the development and sales of extended analytics tools such as "dataDiver," utilizing his own expertise, as well as supporting public and private sector data utilization projects. His publications include the "Statistics is the Strongest Study" series, which has sold over 500,000 copies, and "Statistics Will Save Japan" (Chuokoron Shinsha).

He has also been a member of the Advisory Board of EBPM (Evidence Based Policy Making) of the Cabinet Office since 2020.

Hiromu Nishiuchi has participated in many data analytics projects and has published many books on statistics.

This talk will be a great opportunity to hear valuable stories based on his many experiences in data analytics.

We are very pleased to have great speakers for this keynote. I am very much looking forward to listening to these speakers.
