PyCon JP 2025 のプロポーザルを採択しました - The proposal acceptance is complete!

PyCon JP 2025 プログラムチームの nikkie です。
今年のプロポーザルの採択が完了しましたので、ご報告します。

Hello, this is nikkie from the PyCon JP 2025 Program Team.
I'm pleased to announce that we have completed the selection process for this year's proposals.

PyCon JP 2025 の Call for Proposals のうち、トークに対して合計245件のプロポーザルを提出いただきました。
頂いたプロポーザルは、外部レビュアーとしてご応募頂いた方々も含め総勢30名でレビューを行い、PyCon JP 2025スタッフによる採択会議を経て、採択するプロポーザルを決定しました。
プロポーザルを投稿してくださった皆様、ならびに外部レビュアーとしてご協力いただいた皆様、誠にありがとうございました。

We received a total of 245 talk proposals in response to the Call for Proposals for PyCon JP 2025.
These proposals were reviewed by a team of 30 individuals, including external reviewers who volunteered their expertise.
Following this review process, the PyCon JP 2025 staff held a selection meeting to determine the final list of accepted proposals.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who submitted a proposal and to all the external reviewers who contributed their time and expertise to this process.

Call for Proposals for PyCon JP 2025 has begun!

Hello, I’m nikkie, a member of the PyCon JP 2025 organizing committee.

With PyCon JP 2025 taking place in Hiroshima on September 26 (Fri) and 27 (Sat), there’s only about four months to go!

Today, we are opening the Call for Proposals (CfP) for PyCon JP 2025!

This year, we are accepting three types of proposals:

Talks (30 minutes): 44 slots planned
Posters
Community Posters

As in previous years, we accept proposals in both Japanese and English.

The schedule is as follows. Please adhere strictly to these dates, and plan to submit your proposal well in advance!

Submission Start: Sunday, June 1, 2025
Submission Deadline: Sunday, June 29, 2025 (Anywhere on Earth)
Notification of Acceptance: End of July (planned)

PyCon JP 2025 Theme: “Pieces of Python, Coming Together”

Do you know the theme for PyCon JP 2025?

It is "Pieces of Python, Coming Together"

PyCon JP 2025: “Pieces of Python, Coming Together” in Hiroshima!

Inspired by this location (Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park), we chose the word “peace” as a starting point, aiming to bring together the diverse “pieces” that support Python—technology, tools, experiences, and people—so they can connect and create new possibilities.

This will be the first time PyCon JP is held outside of Tokyo, on a new stage: Hiroshima.

Under the leadership of Chair Nishimoto, the organizing committee envisions PyCon JP 2025 attendees as follows:

Local students and engineers (Hiroshima and the Chugoku region)
Visitors combining tourism (domestic and international)

For the former group, not only experienced Python users but also those who are “just starting with Python” are included.

The entire organizing committee welcomes newcomers who are “just starting with Python.”

Gather! And Share the Allure of Python

“Building Bridges to the Cutting Edge”

PyCon JP 2025 will be held on Friday and Saturday.

We expect that Saturday will be easier for students to attend and will attract more visitors, so we will increase content aimed at “people who are just starting with Python” and “Python users who are still beginners.”

Our goal is to make the conference enjoyable for high school and middle school students, as well as users of programming languages other than Python.

We want this to be a venue where we explain technical concepts and knowledge clearly to those beginners and students.

Therefore, in your proposals we welcome topics on the latest technologies.

With your creativity, show the front lines of Python to those who are just starting out!

While using Python and its useful libraries, we hope for in-depth presentations that help attendees understand “what’s happening behind the scenes” and provide accurate background information.

(If you see fit, feel free to include hands-on elements.)

Learning and Career Development

In addition to topics on the latest technologies, we also welcome sharing about learning and career development.

Topics such as personal skill growth and how to engage in technical communities are relevant here.

There is no need to worry, “I’m still a Python beginner...” Sharing the challenges you faced and how you overcame them will provide valuable insights for newcomers to Python.

Speaking of skill growth, AI is an unavoidable topic. Feel free to submit proposals on AI utilization!

Summary of Changes for the PyCon JP 2025 CfP

As in previous years, please submit a wide range of topics:

Web, machine learning, etc.
See the 2024 timetable for reference.

The organizing committee aims to collect two types of talks related to the PyCon JP 2025 theme:

1. “Building Bridges to the Cutting Edge”
2. “Learning and Career Development”

The audience-level categories have been expanded from three to four:

Novice (new to Python) (NEW)
Beginner
Intermediate
Advanced

Review Criteria for Proposals

Since we are seeking presentations on “Building Bridges to the Cutting Edge” and “Learning and Career Development” in addition to the usual topics, we have updated the review criteria from 2024 as follows:

1. Adherence to the PyCon JP Code of Conduct

PyCon JP requires all participants to follow the Code of Conduct. Proposals that do not meet this standard cannot be accepted, no matter how excellent the content. Violations include inappropriate remarks or defamation against specific individuals or groups. Please read the Code of Conduct before applying.

2. Clarity on the audience and their takeaways

PyCon JP attracts attendees ranging from new Python users to seasoned professionals, working in diverse fields beyond web applications and data science. We value proposals that clearly articulate “who,” “what,” and “how” to ensure alignment with the audience’s needs.

3. Genuine passion for the topic

Why do you want to give this presentation? We look for heartfelt motivations such as “I want to spare others from the struggles I faced,” “I want to help someone,” or “I want to contribute.”

4. Relevance to Python

PyCon JP gathers everyone from light Python users to heavy users. Today, Python is used by scientists and can even be run from Excel. We consider all such use cases as relevant to Python.

These are the main points we use when reviewing proposals.

PyCon JP 2025のテーマ決定！広島でPythonの「ピース」をつなげよう！

この場所（※広島平和記念公園）にちなんで「ピース」という言葉を出発点に、Pythonを支える多様な“pieces”──技術、ツール、経験、そして人々──が集まり、つながり、新たな可能性が生まれる場を目指します。

PyCon JP初の東京の外での開催、広島という新たな舞台。
座長の西本さんのもとに集った主催メンバーは、PyCon JP 2025に訪れる方を以下のように考えています。

地元（広島や中国地方）の学生やエンジニア
観光を兼ねて訪れる方々（国内外）

前者にはPython経験者だけでなく、「これからPython始めます」も含まれます。
主催メンバー一同、「これからPython始めます」という方のご来場も歓迎します。

あつまれ！そしてPythonの魅力を伝えよう

PyCon JP 2025は金曜日と土曜日の開催です。

土曜日は学生さんも参加しやすく来場者が多くなると私たちは想定しており、「これからPython始めます」という方や「Python経験者だけど初級」という方向けのコンテンツを増やします。
高校生や中学生、またPython以外のプログラミング言語ユーザでも楽しめるカンファレンスにすることを狙っています。

そういった初心者や学生に対して、専門的な技術や知識をわかりやすく説明する場にしたいです。
なので、プロポーザルでは最新技術の話題を歓迎します。
皆さんの創意工夫で、これからPythonを始めるという方にPythonの最前線を見せてください！

Pythonや便利なライブラリを使う中で、「裏では何が起こっているか」や正確な背景を習得しようという掘り下げた発表を期待します。
（必要と判断したら、ハンズオンの要素を加えていただいてかまいません）

学びやキャリア形成

もう1点、最新技術の話題と同じくらい、学びとキャリア形成の共有も歓迎します。
自身のスキルの成長や、技術のコミュニティでの関わり方といったトピックが該当します。
「自分はまだPython初級者だから...」という遠慮は不要です。躓いた点やその乗り越え方の共有はこれからPythonを始める方にとっての有益な知見となるでしょう。

スキルの成長で言うと、AIは無視できない存在ですよね。AI活用の話題もどうぞ！

1. PyCon JP Code of Conduct の遵守

PyCon JPでは、すべての参加者にCode of Conduct（行動規範）の遵守が求められます。プロポーザルがこの基準に適合していない場合、たとえどんなに内容が優れていても、採択できません。Code of Conduct違反には特定の個人や団体に対する不適切な言及や誹謗中傷も含まれます。必ずCode of Conductを一読の上応募してください。

2. 聞き手と、その人たちが何を得られるかが具体的に書かれているか

PyCon JPにはこれからPythonを始める方から経験豊富な方が参加され、その方々はWebアプリやデータサイエンスにとどまらず幅広い分野でPythonを使っています。
「誰に・何を・どうやって伝えるか」がちゃんと噛み合っているかを大切にしています。

3. 「この発表をしたい」という想いが込められているか

なぜこの発表をしたいのか。その背景には「自分と同じ苦労を他の人にさせたくない」「誰かの役に立ちたい」「貢献したい」といった想いが込められているかどうかを大切にしています。

4. Pythonに関係しているか

PyCon JPにはPythonのライトユーザからヘビーユーザまで集まります。いまや Python は科学者にも使われ、Excel からも利用できます。私たちは、そうしたすべての使われ方が Python に関係していると考えています。そのような幅広いPythonに関係する発表を求めています

PyCon JP 2024 プログラムチームの hkws です。

今年のプロポーザルの採択が完了しましたので、ご報告します。

PyCon JP 2024 の CfP（https://pyconjp.blogspot.com/2024/04/pyconjp2024-cfp.html）に対して、合計238件のプロポーザルを提出いただきました。頂いたプロポーザルは、外部レビュアーとしてご応募頂いた方々も含め総勢19名でレビューを行い、PyCon JP 2024スタッフによる採択会議を経て、採択するプロポーザルを決定しました。CfPに応募してくださった皆様、ならびに外部レビュアーとしてご協力いただいた皆様、本当にありがとうございました。

PyCon JP 2024登壇者募集中 - あなたのPython体験を共有しませんか？

こんにちは。広報チームの小川です。PyCon JP 2024では、多様な背景を持つPythonユーザーの皆さんから、知見や経験を共有していただける登壇者を募集しています。

「PyCon JPで登壇してみたい！」と思っている方の中には、「具体的にどんな感じで、どうしたらよいのかわからない」という不安を抱えている方もいるかもしれません。そこで、このブログでは、トークやポスターでの参加提案を気軽に出していただけるよう、過去に３回登壇した私自身の経験も交えながら、発表応募のポイントをご紹介します。

今年のイベントテーマは「from everyone import PyConJP」です。参加者、発表者、運営みんなでPyCon JPをつくりあげよう、という思いが込められています。初めてエントリーされる方も発表の経験が多数あるベテランの方も大歓迎です。

過去の採択動向

まずはじめに、登壇の応募数と採択本数の動向を見てみましょう。採択率は20%〜40%と結構狭き門になっています。このハードルを越えて登壇できるということは、かなり魅力を伝えることに成功した人といえるでしょう。ちなみに、最近聞いたビジネスピッチの登壇採択は5%以下だったので、そういうのよりはクリアしやすいと思います。

登壇応募に必要なCfP

CfPはCall for Proposals(募集提案)、カンファレンスなどで発表者などを募集する際に、其の発表内容を応募する際の用語です。発表者を決める会議では、CfPに書かれた内容をもとに、レビュアーの皆さんが参加者に魅力的なカンファレンスになるよう、どの内容を採択するか議論されます。

ちなみに2024年のプロポーザルのガイドラインは次のようになっています。

発表テーマに厳密なルールはありません。Pythonistaにとって面白い内容だと思えば応募してください。必ずしもPythonに関する内容である必要はありません。

レビュー基準に関しては以下の基準で行います。応募の参考にして下さい。

1. 関連性: Pythonコミュニティに関連する内容か？ 2. 明確性: トークの内容が明確に書かれているか？ 3. 専門性: 内容が自身の経験や専門的な内容に基づいて書かれているか？ 4. 実用性: 面白い内容あるいは役に立つ内容か？

CfPはPretalxというアプリケーションから提出していただけます。

CfP作成のちょっとしたコツ

結構たくさん書かないといけません。これをノーヒントで書くのは大変です。

そこで私が初めての時やったのは、前年トークされた方の概要などを見て学ぶことです。トークだとタイムテーブルにプロポーザルの１部が掲載されています。それをたくさん読み込み、どんなことを書いている人が通っているのかを研究しましょう！何か見えてくるはずです！

例えば、2023年のサイトに行ってトークをクリックすると

気になるタイトルをクリックして、どのように書かれているのかチェックすると勉強になります。あと、2023年より前のページからも確認できるので、たくさんチェックしてみたい方はいろいろ見てください。

あと、プロポーザルを作る際は、どんな人に聞いてほしいかを頭に想定しながらが良いと思います。自分の話したいことを書くわけですが、自分の思うがまま書くと、これ面白くなさそうだなっていう仕上がりになったりします。CfPの項目に「オーディエンスが持って帰れる具体的な知識やノウハウ」というのがありますが、ここを意識すると良いものになるのではないでしょうか？

提案の提出期限は6月1日20時59分です。ちょっと余裕をもって5月26日くらいに仕上げるのがいいかもですね！
